Description
The 1300-TH uses the rugged and reliable Twin Hammer mechanism - better suited for all-around automotive use.

The twin hammer design has the hammer able to slide and rotate on a shaft, with a spring holding it in the downwards position. Between the hammer and the driving shaft is a steel ball on a ramp, such that if the input shaft rotates ahead of the hammer with enough torque, the spring is compressed and the hammer is slid backwards. On the bottom of the hammer, and the top of the anvil, are dog teeth, designed for high impacts. When the tool is used, the hammer rotates until its dog teeth contact the teeth on the anvil, stopping the hammer from rotating. The input shaft continues to turn, causing the ramp to lift the steel ball, lifting the hammer assembly until the dog teeth no longer engage the anvil, and the hammer is free to spin again. The hammer then springs forward to the bottom of the ball ramp, and is accelerated by the input shaft, until the dog teeth contact the anvil again, delivering the impact. The process then repeats, delivering blows every time the teeth meet, almost always twice per revolution.

All the Power, Half the Noise! The AIRCAT tool line has a substantially reduced level of noise while retaining more power and torque. Our tools have been tested & shown to operate at 82-86 dBa (decibels), far below the OSHA guidelines. This feature benefits not only the mechanic but also the overall business. The patented tuned exhaust muffler technology, in all the tools, allows discharged air to pass without developing back pressure, thus retaining more power, while significantly reducing noise. AIRCAT has innovated through-the-handle exhaust design, which incorporates its revolutionary worldwide patented internal muffler/filter. The benefits include reduced hazards from breathing exhausted air particulates, the elimination of blow-by into the operators eyes and lungs as well as reduce noise. AIRCAT also incorporates a patented ergonomically engineered handle design to relieve stress and fatigue on the operators hands, wrists and arms. The patented AIRCAT handle offers better overall distribution of weight for a balanced tool and provides a unique grip that makes it easier to use for prolonged periods of time. I own two AIRCAT Impact's, a 1/2" and a 3/8". I've owned several other Impact wrenches over the years but nothing compares to the quality and strength of the AIRCAT impacts. The AIRCAT's are unique as they are made from some type of composite material making them much lighter than impacts made by the competition. They are so powerful that I primarily use my 3/8" AIRCAT for most jobs where I was using 1/2 impacts from the other guys, I only break out my 1/2" AIRCAT on very rare occasions. Another unique feature is the AIRCAT's noise level as compared to the others, AIRCAT has a unique muffler system that cuts down on the noise yet doesn't have any negative effect on power output. Now that I've been exposed to AIRCAT I'll never again own any other brand. BTW; Both of my AIRCAT's are now about 3 years old and get a lot of use (and abuse) without ever letting me down.

Tool is a good buy for the money. Light and balanced for ease of use.
Would rather have the fwd and rev. lever on the handle so you could use your thumb it would come in handy when you're using your other hand to hold on to something for whatever reason. Very good power for the size.
No problems with the tool at all in 2 yrs of moderate use.

I have used other un-muffled impacts before. This is the way to go. With a steel nose on it, you don't have to worry about cracking plastic when you need to get a job done in a hurry. The grip's comfort is astounding but trigger pull needs an experienced touch in order to deliver only a fraction of its rated torque. I only give it four stars because of the fact that it's too easy to accidentally apply too much force and break bolts. With a little experience, this is overcome. Great impact!
